|Partner Programs: Northwest Family Services|
Northwest Family Services (NWFS) has been serving teens and families across the nation since 1983. One goal of the Talk to Them project is to encourage parents to talk to their children about sex as well as the benefits of waiting.
NWFS programs are nationally recognized. Our curricula and performances have been independently evaluated among diverse populations and found to be effective.
Our focus is to empower youth so they will make positive life choices. These choices include sexual abstinence as well as avoiding an array of negative risk behaviors. Effective programs help teens with character development, healthy relationships, self-respect, goal setting, good decision-making, and positive communication. Waiting is the best sexual choice because it helps them to be physically and emotionally healthy. As more and more young people make the decision to abstain, we seek to support and encourage that choice through our programs and resources.
For the past 20 years, Northwest Family Services has been providing programs to schools, communities, and families. As our Portland-based nonprofit organization has grown, so has the depth and breadth of our offerings. Currently, we address elementary, middle, and high school audiences in both English and Spanish through a variety of dynamic and interactive programs throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. Other support services are offered throughout the United States. In addition, we provide educational programs and resources for teachers, parents, and families.
As parents, you are the primary educators of your children. You want what’s best for your children. We’re here to help. Visit our home site, www.nwfs.org, to see how Northwest Family Services can further assist your community.
